Food Processing CHP Resources
- A Resource Assessment on potential energy production from cheese whey, brewery residuals, and food processing residuals is available from the Vermont Methane Pilot Project.
- Cornell is researching the feasibility of grouping food processing residuals with farm manure for treatment in a centrally located digester. This study will develop a Geographic Information System (GIS) model to integrate information on dairy farms in the State, as well as various environmental, social, economic and technical factors that are critical to identifying locations most suitable for considering distributed bioenergy systems.
- Connecticut commissioned a study that identifies, quantifies, and maps food residuals from CT businesses and institutions. GIS technology was used to map the location of all identified waste generators in relation to transportation arteries at statewide and local levels. Massachusetts commissioned a similar study that identifies, characterizes, and maps food waste generation in order to help promote the development of a food waste recycling infrastructure.
